What is a TMA?
The Alewife Transportation Management Association (TMA) is a public-private partnership among employers, developers and commercial and residential building owners in the Alewife/Fresh Pond area. Members join together in a collective effort to mitigate traffic, improve air quality, and provide access to transportation options beyond the single-occupancy vehicle.
Who We Are
The Alewife Transportation Management Association (TMA) is a 501(c4) non-profit organization.
The TMA's membership is comprised of employers, multi-tenant office buildings and residential properties in the Alewife/Fresh Pond area who join together to address shared transportation challenges. The Alewife TMA assists The City of Cambridge in accomplishing their sustainability and economic development goals.
The TMA addresses a variety of needs including:
- traditional commuting from the suburbs into Cambridge
- reverse commuting--from Cambridge to suburban areas
- and non-commuting trips around the area
Funding for the TMA comes from its members.
When you join the Alewife TMA you become part of an organization that is working to improve the quality of life in the region where your employees work or your tenants live. Everyone benefits when traffic congestion from automobiles on the roadway is reduced and air quality is improved with less-polluting travel options.

Alewife/Fresh Pond District
Membership in Alewife TMA is open to any employer, institution, office building or residential complex located in the Alewife/Fresh Pond area.

Improve Air Quality
Commuter programs successfully reduce vehicle pollution by encouraging the use of eco-friendly transportation modes.
Reduce Traffic
By reducing the number of single-occupancy vehicles on the road it frees up space for everyone.
Compliance
Our support team is here to execute commuter programs to achieve goals for federal, state, and local compliance ordinances.
Parking Solutions
When commuters share the ride to work or choose an active commute, it means better parking availability for everyone!
